Happy Birthday THY!
9 years ago on September 2nd, I taught my first class at Transparent Heart Yoga. I had purchased Yoga on the Square from Angela just a few weeks prior. The night before said class, there was a closing/transition party for Yoga on the Square. I had already met a number of the “regulars” in class the week leading up to this day, and got to meet many others on the night of this party. I was so friggin’ excited! It had been a dream of mine to open a yoga studio for a number of years, and the universe just happened to present to me with this wonderful opportunity at the perfect time. It was a manageable business with reasonable rent, and a class schedule that I could handle solely on my own if I needed to. Seen in photo above, that first class set in motion a wonderful time of learning, growing, and connecting for me and with this beautiful community.
We had some amazing times, didn’t we? I can’t begin to detail out all that transpired through those years at the studio. It turned out better than I ever could’ve hoped or imagined. You all came along that fantastic ride with me, and I will always be so grateful for your presence in the THY community.
I know, I know, I know! it was tough when we had to close the doors. And I still get asked to this day if I plan on opening a studio again. And the answer, as you may have guessed, is no. It was time to move on then, as it continues to be now. At almost the exact same time as we opened the studio, Tim and I purchased our land out here in Christiana. And we knew then that it would be our life’s work to make something of this land. It has been a slow and steady process, and of course there’s still so much work to be done. But this is our path, and has always been our shared dream.
Since the closing of the studio, I feel like I’ve been futzing around, trying to figure out exactly what I’m supposed to be doing and sharing and how, without a real space to hold classes or share all that I love to teach and study. I needed to take time, in “retreat mode”, to work on this. And of course, I still don’t have it all figured out. But what has finally come back to me is the burning desire to follow through with ideas that I’m passionate about. I’ve since come up with 2 different business ideas and business names, but it just doesn’t feel like the right time to pursue those. I started teaching regular classes again a few years ago at TruFit, and I remembered how much I love to teach group yoga classes. That’s been a saving grace for me. I’ve been seeing private clients along the way, which is also my true passion and my other saving grace. I’ve really been tapping into my Vedic Astrology Readings which luckily I can do remotely or at any public space, and that knowledge and experience is really starting to settle in. Just yesterday I had a reading with a new client that was truly transformative for both of us. She learned so much and really connected with her chart, and I was reminded of how truly powerful and accurate these chart readings can be, and how they can truly help with healing our minds.
All of this to say, in so many words as I have trouble being concise, THY is back! Today truly feels like a rebirth. I have decided not to change the name of my business, and to reinvest my time in the things I am truly passionate about that hopefully help to continue to heal and transform this community toward it’s highest self. So stay tuned, I will be sharing new (and existing) offerings soon, and will try to share in a way that makes these teachings accessible to all. The business will continue to look different than the studio, but that’s ok. We will still find ways to come together.
I want to thank each and every one of you for being here with me. Those of you who gave me a chance when I took over your dear Yoga on the Square. Those of you who took your very first yoga class at THY. Those of you who searched “yoga near me” and became such an integral part of the community. Those of you who may have never attended one of our classes, but enjoy the insights you receive from my emails. Those of you who have found me more recently and have become dear private clients. And especially the teachers who came along the THY ride and helped to change and grow this wonderful community with me. I am truly blessed to have each and every one of you in my life. Thank you from the deepest place in my soul.
And if you’ve ever wondered, the name Transparent Heart came to me through a meditation one day. What it means to me is this: I am strongest and most connected when I live through my Transparent Heart, connected to the deepest part of my soul and emotions. I have found and continue to find this place when I practice and share these yogic teachings.
